Job # 477

This is a project we were asked to join by one of the reputable General Contractors that we work for. The first week we started was 4/14/2008 and to date (2/11/09) we have accrued 1350 man hours with over $5700.00 in paint purchases.

We started with shop applying primer and one finish coat to all cedar siding as a way to make sure all surfaces were sealed from the elements.  The second coat was applied after installation.  This is something that not all builders do.  I find that only the really good ones understand and are willing to go to the measure of pre-painting any exterior wood.  This will increase the painting intervals required years down the road as moisture is the most common cause of paint failures.

A good bit of the cabinetry and custom staining we shop applied as well.

The architect had visited several nice homes in the south and had made inquiries as to why the paint work looked unique and at a level not ordinarily seen.  He was told that all the surfaces were sprayed.  This then became his goal for us to achieve.  99% of all surfaces in this house was painted by spray application using airless, air-assist and HVLP sprayers.
In addition to painting we were able to do a little "creative work" thanks to the designer.
